As a coastal country resting at the tip of Africa, with the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Sahara Desert to the south, and Grand Atlas Mountains to the east, it offers a truly unique experience that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. This 7-night tour provides a brilliant blend of bustling city markets, quaint countryside villages, marveling at the sheer diversity of scenic landscapes, as well as exploring the rich religious and cultural histories and architecture throughout this great land.
Your journey begins as you fly into Casablanca, the romantic backdrop of the epic film of the same name. The first day is at your leisure to get yourself settled in, but don’t worry there will be a half-day tour of this modern metropolis at the end of the trip before you leave. Your first sightseeing stop on the itinerary is in Rabat, which is Arabic for “a retreat,” fittingly enough. You’re in for a treat as you explore the vast architectural wonders including the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortress built nearly a millennium ago, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V which houses the tomb of one of the greatest Moroccan kings, and the Hassan Tower, a striking but incomplete monument built in the 12th century. Spend the next couple of days on route to Fez, stopping at the archaeological site of Volubilis which contains some of the best preserved Roman Ruins from their ancient empire. Once in the city of Fez, you’ll explore the many mosques, medinas, and even see the University of Al-Karaouine which was founded in 859 and is the oldest continuously-running university in the world. The next couple of days will be spent gazing at the tranquil scenery on the road to Marrakesh, passing by lakes, an oasis, snow-capped mountain ranges, and lush vegetation supporting a host of exotic flowers and plant-life. This is a great opportunity to take plenty of pictures to remember this unbelievable trip. You’ll then come full circle, returning to Casablanca to be given one final tour of the city’s attractions before heading back to Canada. After such an imaginative and inspiring journey, you may be returning to your same old life, but you most definitely will not be the same old person.
